MY HASHIMOTO'S JOURNEY

This is how I finally got over my daily exhaustion.
The following recommendations are based off my own health journey when I worked with a functional medicine practitioner to take a deep dive into my health and figure out why I was so tired all the time.

Functional medicine means you take the whole body into consideration and it also works to prevent illness rather than just "put a band-aid on it"

With the following tools, my practitioner and I discovered that I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and I am now working on managing it every day.  I highly advise that if you have ANYTHING that seems "off" in your life (like my extreme fatigue), that you DO NOT just accept it and work to find the root cause.

numbers don't lie

Seriously, bloodwork numbers and hormone levels don't lie.  Unfortunately, getting in-depth lab testing done can be hard because most doctors don't want to dive deep, and some just aren't informed of why these tests are so important.  This is why I looked for a functional medicine practitioner at the beginning of 2019.  She was more than willing to order in depth hormone and blood tests for me.  I took it another step further and ordered my own food sensitivity testing too.  Yes, I ordered it myself!  Here's some more resources on what we did:
20% off EverylyWell home testing
This is the company I used for food sensitivity testing.  They also offer other blood tests, and believe me, I would have used them if my doctor wouldn't have ordered them for me.  Clicking the button above gives you 20% your first order.
DUTCH test
This is a very in depth hormone test that is done at home and uses dried urine (yeah I know) over a 24 hour cycle to determine hormone levels.  Although you can purchase this without a provider, I highly recommend having one just because it is so in depth and confusing to the average person.  Don't be worried though, their website does offer recommendations for doctors in case you need one!

digestive enzymes

Digesting food well was a huge issue for me.  The average person already has low levels of stomach acid and naturally occurring digestive enzymes due to chronic stress, which was a definite factor in my life.  Here's Amazon links to the digestive aids I use with each meal.
Hydrochloric Acid
Basic Digestive Enzymes
Dairy Specific Enzymes
